I Knit A Lion

I love this guy! He was fun and not that hard to knit, but very detailed (lots of fussy little pieces and finishing). I hang out at Black Sheep Yarns in Port Moody, and the owner got in a set of patterns by Chris de Longpre. The Lion is from the set called Safari Friends, put out by Knitting at Knoon.

Safari friends comes with patterns for a lion, an elephant, a giraffe, and a zebra. I have elephant legs on the go already.

This designer has also created patterns for dinosaurs (very cute) and for aliens (even cuter!). I can't wait for the alien patterns to arrive at Black Sheep cuz I plan to be all over those.

The pattern instructions are extremely detailed and well thought-out. You can see quite a few animals on Ravelry for these patterns, and they all look adorable. I used Queensland Collection Kathmandu for the main lion and Elann.com Sierra Aran for the mane. The little guy sits about six inches tall (not counting the leg length, and he took me about seven hours to create. Rrroooowrrrrr!

Work In Progress

One of my many WIP's is Carmela's Cardigan from Patons Top Down Classics. I just started this a few weeks ago, but it knits up super fast in Elann.com's Seta Lana (Celadon). I bought this at elann's bag sale, and the day it arrived, I ditched all other projects cuz I just had to get my hands in that soft silky yarn. Mine came on a Monday, and I went to knit night, only to see that I was not alone. Another knitter had her Seta Lana on needles the day it arrived too.
